There are a few “platform” tools that are emerging from the explosion of AI tools we have seen. A few of these tools that I would recommend are:

  • Perplexity.ai as a true AI search engine
  • CastMagic as a way to intelligently repurpose audio and video into textual content
  • OpusClip to repurpose long-form video into short-form video
  • Descript for audio and video editing
  • Jasper for AI content generation

My tech stack includes Canva, Grammarly, ChatGPT, Lumen5,  Hootsuite, SEMRush and Hubspot. Canva constantly keeps ahead of AI updates, adding new magical tools to its belt every day. It’s a perfect tool for creating any piece of traditional marketing, as well as any digital marketing content. Canva can even post your content for you, making it a one-stop shop for some small businesses.

  • Grammarly is my number one recommendation for clients, even clients who believe they have perfect grammar. Grammarly has a Chrome extension and Mac app that seamlessly ties into your emails, Google Docs, presentations, and more. They also have a new tool, allowing users to have Grammarly AI write for them.
  • ChatGPT is one of the misused AI tools, but when used effectively, it can add immense value to a business. I recommend using ChatGPT primarily for research purposes. I do not recommend using it to write blogs or other valuable content for your brand unless you aim to spend a long time rewriting it.
  • Lumen5 is an excellent video tool, again, when you use it correctly. When Lumen5 is misused, your audience will immediately recognize the AI component and disengage. Use Lumen5 to fill gaps in your skillset rather than just letting it run the show.
  • Hootsuite is a perennial favorite because they are excellent at staying ahead of social media and digital marketing trends and ensuring its software can do all of the latest things. One helpful tool is their hashtag finder, which automatically sources hashtags for your post, and it has one of the best predictive schedulers.

HubSpot has been using AI since before AI was trendy. Email automation, in itself, is a form of AI. While HubSpot can do many powerful things, I encourage clients to use their email marketing tool and landing page generator the most. Most email marketing strategists I write end up in a Hubspot somewhere because it’s a trusted tool many large corporations worldwide use.

The most important thing to remember is that AI is machines behaving like humans; it is not a human. You are still desperately needed to double-check AI’s work. Please don’t rely 100% on AI; always ensure there are human touchpoints for review along the way.

Pitch integrated AI beautifully. Marketers do a lot of presentations and in Pitch, you can get a pretty neat starting point by prompting their AI about what you’re looking to say.

Superhuman also integrated AI to help you get through those emails faster. It can adopt your tone of voice and craft a reply you only have to tweak.

We’ve also launched Planable AI to help marketers create those social media posts faster. Ask it to tweak your copy, generate posts, add relevant hashtags, adapt to each social media network and so on.

An extra tip: as we’re integrating AI more into the marketing workflows, I suggest marketers take the time to explore all the possibilities it offers. And because there are so many different opportunities, ensure the team helps each other explore them. We’ve been doing sharing sessions about ways to use AI. We each share tricks we’ve discovered and brainstorm new ways we can use it. We plan to do this once a quarter to make sure we’re constantly learning from each other.

Since the launch of ChatGPT in November of last year, I have come across a hundred-plus tools based on AI. ChatGPT caught everyone’s attention because of its amazing ability to have human-like conversations and answer complex questions.

Of course, among the first predictions I read, many were saying that AI would do most of the marketing and lots of people working in the field would loose their source of income.

I remember a few friends who do copywriting for a living were terrified. It was right before the Christmas break and that’s not something you’d want to keep your mind busy with during vacation.

But there’s a lot more that AI can do besides answering complex questions and writing articles for blogs or social media.

Let’s start with tools that can (obviously) help with content creation. ChatGPT, especially the improved version (GPT-4) does a pretty good job if the prompts you provide are built correctly.

Still, some other AI-based tools can help even better with that task: Writesonic, Copy.ai, Ryte.com, or KoalaWriter are tools that can simplify your life. They come with templates for different uses, such as blog articles, social media posts, email marketing, and more. They can generate outlines, headlines, meta titles, and meta descriptions in a more organized way.

Deep research tools

ChatGPT is still a great tool for such tasks, but I’d also mention Silatus. Extremely fast research that gets formalized into detailed reports in seconds. And of course, Google’s BARD which has lately been updated with Gemini, Google’s latest model performed better than ChatGPT in most benchmarks.

Data Analysis

OpenAi’s ChatGPT 4 is doing quite well when it comes to data analysis. The fact that you can upload data in different formats is brilliant and time-saving. Plus, the fact that the outcome can also be downloaded in a convenient format adds another layer of productivity and saves extra time.

Image generation

MidJourney is probably the best-known AI-based tool for image generation. But with the launch of OpenAI’s latest DALL-E version which is also available for premium ChatGPT users, marketers are happy to have more great options to choose from for their image generation needs.

The adoption of AI tools is a tactical move to smarter, high-impact digital communications. By aligning technology with human intuition, we can more effectively create meaningful, forward-thinking content, simplify processes, and focus on a more strategic approach to deliver greater value and experiences.

The toolset for AI is as diverse as professions and personal preferences, and it’s powerful. But focusing on our industry, digital marketing, I’m a loyal advocate for Canva since its founding. As far as visual content AIs go, and I can say that many I’ve tried are incredibly fun, ClipDrop is my first choice for its powerful AR capabilities.

For research, writing, structuring, brainstorming, advising, guidance, and almost anything else you can think of, there’s OpenAI’s ChatGPT; I also use Bard and Bing from time to time for verification and additional exploration.

For linguistic precision and styling, Grammarly and Deepl work beautifully; the latter is known for its high-quality translations, supports several European languages, and has been expanding its capabilities.

Wondershare offers robust video editing suites in addition to broad PDF, graphics, and utility solutions for a variety of digital needs.

Keyword Extractor is another very helpful tool that identifies the keywords and phrases that are most relevant to audiences, improving SEO and SEM strategies for websites.

And the AI list of options grows by the day or minute. All you have to do is visit https://theresanaiforthat.com to be taken down the rabbit hole — a place of endless fascination for some and a maze of complexity for others.

Contrary to the fear that is widely spread on social media, AI tools are in fact catalysts for creativity and efficiency, designed to augment rather than replace human talent and potential on many levels, while giving us the means to explore, discover, and evolve in ways we may never have dreamed of in the past.

Many tools are developing their own AI tools within their tool. They are calling them ‘AI assistants,’ or something similar. If a tool that you’ve trusted and been using offers an AI feature, you should at least try it to see how it works for you. You may have already started experimenting with content creation tools and social media schedulers.

Tools I’ve used and found effective:

  • Canva – Image and other content creation
  • ChatGPT – Project research and content improvement, business systems improvement
  • DALL-E – Image creation
  • JasperAI – Brand voice text
  • Midjourney – Image creation and comparisons
  • HeyGen – Video creation
  • SurgeGraph – Longform content and SEO

There are new AI tools released every day. So, it is essential to stay aware. The AI Advantage Show is a podcast that features guests savvy with AI and the world of marketing.

Right now with AI, we are experiencing something like the early days of social media marketing. There is a rush to understand, experiment, develop, and systemize use. If you are old enough to have survived that evolution, you are equipped to ace the AI evolution.

My two go-tos right now are Chat GPT and Claude. They’re very similar in outputs and ease of use. The main difference in the way I use them is that Claude allows PDFs and CSVs to be uploaded, so you can create prompts around analyzing the data in those documents.

Regardless of which tool I’m using, I make sure my goal is on helping me work more efficiently, not taking the work off my plate altogether. For example, if I’m using AI in writing a blog post, the version output by the tool becomes my rough, rough, rough draft. It’s a starting point. What eventually gets published is heavily edited by human eyes and intellect, usually to a point that it’s almost unrecognizable from the AI version.

When it comes to AI Tools the choice can be overwhelming. So I try to focus on tools or software that not only help with content creation, save my time and make my job easier, but I aim for tools or software that is integrated into my workflow. If I open software, I want it to achieve multiple functions at once without leaving a dashboard. Three of my favorite tools for this are as follows:

  • The main place I use AI that is intuitive and accessible IN my workflow is Canva’s Visual Suite and Magic Studio tools. Instead of leaving Canva to access Chat GPT, you can use Magic Write inside Canva to generate AI-assisted copy (in a range of document types). It’s a huge time-saver for my content creation. As part of Magic Studio, you can access AI video and image generators at your fingertips with Text to Video, Text to Image, and Magic Editing tools like Magic Expand, Magic Animate and so much more. I love that all of these tools work seamlessly within my workflow and I don’t have to leave Canva to use them.
  • Magai is a suite of AI tools, including an AI chat interface that is powered by some of the world’s best AI Chat models and Image generators. It does all the things you wish you could do with ChatGPT and more, including saved personas, chat folders, saved prompts, and the ability to manage multiple brands. New integrations and software is being added all the time so it’s definitely a tool to check out!
  • An AI-powered Calendar like Motion can be a huge productivity boost. Motion is like having an executive assistant built into your calendar and it increases your productivity by helping to plan your day, move appointments as your schedule changes, schedule meetings, and more. If time allocated to a project blows out for the day, Motion automatically adjusts your calendar to fit, based on parameters you set and how negotiable you are on moving certain activities.

Piecing together the power of AI with content creation tools is a thing of the past when they can all co-exist together to allow us to do our work seamlessly with an edge!

For 2024, I’d highlight two indispensable AI tools for marketers. First, ‘TrendTracker AI’, which is like a crystal ball for market trends, giving you the foresight to not just follow but set trends. It uses AI to predict market shifts in real-time.

Secondly, I recommend ‘InsightBot 360’. This tool is a game-changer for customer insights. Think of it as a digital Sherlock Holmes, analyzing social media, reviews, and forums to provide deep, actionable insights into consumer behaviour. Together, these tools equip marketers to be proactive and deeply informed.

I recommend Secta.ai for headshots. It’s a lot of work to give it enough actual photos to work with (it needs 25-30 good quality images of your face) but the output is excellent. Definitely worth the cost and time.

Your social profile picture is possibly the single most important asset of your persona brand.

Claude AI is probably my favorite right now in terms of being able to replicate a voice and mock-up first drafts of content. I’m a sucker for those AI generated profile photos so I love Remini and Lensa for that.

For image generation, I think Dreamstudio is probably my favorite as far as nailing the photorealistic style. I’ve also had success using Bard for finding high volume, low competition search keywords.

I recommend the AI tool that best fits the task- and there are many marketing tasks! I’m a big fan of generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Bard, and  also productivity tools like Zapier for automating tasks, Grammarly for copy editing, and Canva for graphic design of all types.

The key is to figure out your goal, whether it be writing better show notes for your podcast, improving your deliverability rates on your email newsletter, or analyzing which headlines work best on your blog posts. There is a tool out there for most anything marketers want to achieve, so do your research and don’t be afraid to experiment!

Instantly AI
Although this is a cold email outreach tool, the ability to utilise AI in writing more personalised emails to cold prospects is the perfect tool for marketers to help generate sales in 2024.

Mid-journey

This Ai image based platform is perfect for creating more engaging images for your ads and social media content in 2024. The best part about Mid journey is that the only limit is your imagination when creating new concepts for your brand or client (p.s just need to be careful with any copyright claims if you are referencing known brands/logos)

Undetectable AI
Undetectable AI functions as an AI content detector akin to Originality AI. What sets it apart is its unique ability to not only detect but also transform AI-generated content from ChatGPT, giving it a human-like quality.

It is my belief that if a technology tool is not currently using AI in some way, it should be eliminated from further use. This includes CRMs, analytics, research, editing, communication, and social media tools.

My personal favorite is still ChatGPT because it is versatile and increasingly customizable. After completing the custom instructions in my profile, it is proving to be more capable in delivering the type of information I require and formatting it to my needs. I’ve encouraged it to offer expert opinions, but only if they can be supported.

I’ve been clear that responses should be as long as they need to be. Shorter is better when there is no further value to share. But if there is more useful information, especially documented research, or real-life case studies, then I will appreciate that extra value and expect it to be included.

Like all marketers out there, I’ve started kicking off this AI exploration with Chat GPT. While there are a gazillion lesser-known options out there, I feel it becomes ever more powerful and we’re discovering new ways of using it.

Now, here’s my not-so-secret pleasure: pitting ChatGPT against Bard with the same prompt. Call it AI rivalry therapy.

If I had to keep it short and sweet, here’s my go-to toolkit: play with copy.ai or Jasper for some word magic, create mind maps with Miro, and get organized with Notion’s AI assistant.

As a compulsive content creator, I’ve explored numerous video apps, from the catchy effects of Videoleap to the surprisingly user-friendly CapCut for non-professionals. Also, Synthesia for videos with a futuristic vibe—it’s pretty surreal that we can turn a simple promo into visual content.

Speaking of visuals, I may be biased and experiment with Creatopy’s AI tools. As for image generative tools, like Midjourney may serve as a creative playground, but I don’t see immediate applicability. For a pragmatic spin, try an AI SEO tool such as Surfer.

On a side note –  can’t wait to see what’s happening with Spotify DJ.

In this AI adventure, the mantra is clear: Keep testing. ‘Never stop exploring,’ as the wise North Face campaign says—couldn’t have said it better myself.

I’m a big user of ChatGPT, but let’s not get away with ourselves.  Research shows that people want humility and research shows that people don’t like AI generated emails, content etc.  Google also downgrades content it suspects is AI generated. So while somebody may use a walking stick to walk, they still walk and don’t assume the stick will do it for them.

AI is a great addition and time saver, but don’t lose the human touch of your brand, messaging and communication.

– Dall- E – for custom images
– Hemingway – an editor app for writing
– Gamma – for creating presentations
– Crayon – competitive intel for b2b companies
– Superpowered – an AI notetaker for meetings
– OpusClip – an app that repurposes long talking videos into shorts
– Grammarly – for content writing
Socialinsider’s AI Instagram listening – for clustering Instagram posts for specific hashtags.

I personally love (LOVE) ChatGPT. I would marry it, if I could. But my advice is it’s less about the tool and more about what you’ll use.

There are lots of great AI tools out there today so test a handful of them and use what you like best. And if you want to start with ChatGPT, don’t try stealing its love from me!

Check with your tool provider first on their AI capabilities to discover new ways of optimizing its use prior to purchasing or switching tools.

I do not recommend any particular tool. What I do recommend is ALWAYS BE LEARNING.

If you are not experimenting with AI, and learning what time allows, you WILL be left behind.
