With more than 1 billion unique visitors on Youtube every month and over 6 billion videos watched online every month, video  marketing remains an important part of the online marketing communication strategy.

Why marketers should use video marketing?

Because consumers are so highly visual and video-responsive. It is estimated that people are 90% visual beings, so they bases their learnings on the visual experience. There are several reasons why marketers should take advantage of videos and transform the relationship between brands and consumers into an interactive communication within videos. These are the main reasons, why marketers should use videos as a part of their online marketing strategy:

  • increase brand exposure, especially if the video goes viral. Viral videos are generally based on an insight: basic behavior or special actions that consumers are used to do when they buy certain products/services. If you are able to interpose your brand between  insights and buying moments, and make a video out of this, it means that you can create a viral video.

  • increase impact on conversation rate. Even if a  conversation may not be the result of a sale,  it is very important for brand awareness. By using videos, marketers have the opportunity to increase brand exposure, generate user reviews of the products/services and increase traffic on the website.

  • add value to the viewer’s experience and make them like and share your video; and maybe one of the most important thing in here, make them talk about your video.

Ann Handley said that you should “make the customer the hero of your story” and that’s just one way to look at videos: an opportunity to create a connection with consumers, by using brands as a pretense. Does video marketing work? If you know your purpose, your audience and your focus, you should be able to make the right decision.
