Finally, Twitter introduces the two-step authentication for a better protection of their accounts, as the company announced on their blog.
As Jim O’Leary (Product Security Team) announce on the twitter blog:
“Today we’re introducing a new security feature to better protect your Twitter account: login verification. This is a form of two-factor authentication. When you sign in to twitter.com, there’s a second check to make sure it’s really you. You’ll be asked to register a verified phone number and a confirmed email address”.
There are 4 easy steps to follow to do this:
1. Login on Twitter and go to account settings page.
2. Go to the “Account security” and click on the link to “add a phone” and follow the prompts from there.
3. Click on the “Require a verification code when I sign in.”
4. After you finish with the login verification, you’ll be asked to enter a 6 digit code, that twitter will send to your phone via sms each time you sign in your twitter account.
