Instagram Introduced Focus

After months of rumors, Instagram introduced Focus on the Stories mode. What does Focus camera format mean?

Focus Camera Format

If you have iPhone SE, 6S, 6S+, 7, 7+, 8, 8+ and X and select Android devices, when you enter the Stories mode, right next to the Superzoom option you will find a new feature named Focus. Whether you want to take a selfie or a photo of a friend, the face will be in focus, whilst the background is slightly blurred. After you decided who to photograph, tap the photo button and after you have done this, you can save the photo to your device or share it as a story. But this doesn’t apply to the photo mode only, it also has a video one, that does the same thing. The new feature also has the possibility of adding stickers, text or gifs to your photos or videos before you send them in Instagram Direct or Stories.

It is getting more and more clear that the phone camera is slowly taking the place of the photo camera, with all the new features that are added to different apps.

Mentions Sticker

But the Focus feature is not the only new feature that Instagram adds to its profile. There is another one, namely, the mentions sticker, available only on iOS. Even though until now you were able to mention a friend or a brand in a story of yours, from now on, this mention will turn into a sticker. To add a mention sticker, you should follow the same instructions as you do when adding any other sticker: open your stories camera; shoot a photo or a video; start typing the name of the account you want to mention and select from the options that appear. After this, you can rotate it, color it and play with it, as you can do with any other sticker.

What do you think of the new Instagram Focus features? Whereas the Focus one is a totally new one, mentions looks more like an improved version of the old mentioning form.
