Seeing the success that polls have in Instagram stories, the social network representatives decided to add a new way of interaction between users: the emoji slider sticker.
They have announced the new feature in a blog post, saying that this new way of interaction lets you ask “more nuanced questions” and personalize the sticker as you want. This, instead of having only two options to answer a question, as the basic poll sticker was initially created.
How do you add the new emoji slider sticker to your story?
In order to add the new sticker on your stories, you must follow the same steps as for every sticker:
- open the story tab
- take a photo or record a video
- click on the button that adds stickers and look for the new one
- select an emoji that suits the question you have asked (it can be any emoji from the list Instagram is offering) and then ask your question.
Let your friends answer it by dragging the emoji. This will be possible right after you have posted the new story.
If you see a friend you follow posted a story with an emoji sticker and want to answer it, just drag the emoji to the left or to the right, according to the likeliness of the answer to the question. When you have dragged enough to answer, release the button and you are all set. The recipient will see how the followers answered the same way he or she sees the answers to a poll. You will also see the average answers from other respondents as well. Of course, you will be able to see the answers in real time. The content you have shared will disappear within 24 hours, just like all the other stories. If you want to keep it permanently, you can add it to your highlights.
The latest feature is available in the 44th version of the app on both Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Update it and start testing!
