Increasing organic reach on social media isn’t dead or totally impossible. At least for now, there are still ways to improve it without cracking your head and pulling your hair. But one thing for sure, you need to have the right strategy before you can even start creating a powerful impact in social media.
Don’t worry if you have no idea what organic reach means. Taken directly from Facebook, here’s a quick snippet to understand what it is all about:
Organic reach refers to how many people you can reach for free on Facebook by posting to your Page. My colleagues and I at Facebook understand that this has been a pain point for many businesses, and we’re committed to helping you understand what’s driving this change so your business can succeed on Facebook.
Organic reach is extremely important to social media marketers because, without organic reach, you would need to spend a lot of money either in paid advertisements or hiring consultants to perform marketing for you. Organic reach is also the most effective way to reach out to the right audience that is interested in your products.
In this post, you will find the top 5 ways to dramatically increase your organic reach on social media. Of course, feel free to share this article around with your friends if you find it useful!
Increase Organic Reach On Social Media
Step 1: Understand the type of content that attracts your followers
You may post dozens of social media updates in a day (or a week) but how many of them really get tons of reaction from your followers?
Most of the time, you only get a handful of reaction from them; be it likes, Facebook emotions or comments.
In my case, posting long sentences and microblogging on Facebook doesn’t work at all. As a matter of fact, most of my followers doesn’t really give a d*mn when I do so. But when I publish a motivational quote, photo or video on my Facebook feed, they get so many reactions that exploded my notification (which in some cases, I had to turn off my notification setting on my phone).
Step 2: Sharing content that is more than just the standard ones
When it comes to content, we are often experiencing content shock. In easier words, content shock happens when there is just too much content in the market. Well, this makes a lot of sense since anyone can start a blog and everyone is literally trying to leverage social media for their own gain (traffic, revenue etc).
If you want to have more organic reach, you need to share and publish content that is highly valuable to your followers. Take an example of the follows:
Most people shares solutions on social media but how many of them actually share the old school how-to and what-to-do with those solutions?
Now, take a moment to think about it. If you are able to constantly provide these form of content, you are golden on any social media platforms you are in. Period.
Step 3: Leveraging groups in social media marketing
Make no mistake as there are a lot of spam in this world, especially in those social media groups. Putting aside my personal rant on groups, groups are actually very powerful tools to drive organic traffic to your business.
The steps to leverage this is very simple. All you need to do is to take a moment to participate in groups and see what are the common questions the members experience. Then, provide a solution to them and probably, a link back to your older social media posts.
This part is vital that you do not link back directly to your blog post. Instead, you link back to your older social media posts. So, here’s how it goes:
Post a reply in groups > Link back to a social media update > That social media update will link back to your blog post
Step 4: Using the right words that attract your followers
If a picture represents a thousand words, then a word could either make or break your business.
As a social media marketer, you need to focus on using the right words in marketing. The usage of popular words could attract and more importantly, resonates with your followers. This will make them more engaged with you and ultimately, react towards your social media posts.
Always remember that every like, comment or share would increase your organic traffic dramatically.
On top of that, another tip is to use words like “I”, “you” and “we” as these will also resonate closely with them. Ultimately, you want to share social media posts that your followers can relate to them without much effort.
Step 5: Cross promoting between social media channels
I couldn’t have said this enough but this is true. You need to constantly cross promote your social media posts and updates among different channels. Yes, cross promote your social media posts and not just your links!
You will have a different set of customers on each social media platform you are involved in. Therefore, publishing and sharing a post on Facebook do not guarantee that your followers on Twitter will get the same message.
Cross promoting also allows you to double (or triple) your organic reach because you are trying to tap into audience or marketers which may not know about you and your products. Therefore, you aren’t only able to increase organic reach, you will also stand a high chance of growing your audience in a long run.
Additionally, cross promoting literally costs nothing which is another huge addon towards your social media marketing plans.
Conclusion
There are many ways you can increase organic traffic on social media and they all start with planning. Planning ensures that you will be able to aim at the right market, save more funds and improve your ultimate reach with the minimum cost.
